Nature’s Little Secrets revealed

The British Virgin Island are doing something right. Taking the lead amongst its sister Caribbean tourism destinations, the BVI threw the weight of its attraction behind efforts to lure more Caribbean visitors. “We extend an invitation to the people of the surrounding islands; especially for the low season when our rates are generally lower and the visitor numbers of the traditional markets dwindle,” said Lynette Harrigan, the Tourist Board’s Manager of the Caribbean and Latin America.

The multi-island nation brought over some of the region’s better penmen to give them a taste of BVI pure. “These journalists were carefully handpicked, giving consideration to the Caribbean markets we want to reach,” said Harrigan.

The perseverance of Fort Zeelandia, Suriname
It’s funny how recent events can change the way people look at what age old history left behind for us to enjoy. Originally built by the English in 1651 and first named Fort Willoughby and later renamed Fort Zeelandia by the Dutch after they traded New Amsterdam (New York) for Suriname, this fortress became the scene of the notorious December murders of 1982, and its character changed. Its beauty however persevered; made out of blocks carved from rockhard soil, the fortress is located in a beautiful garden of towering mahogany trees and surrounded by a set of historical wooden houses that the city of Suriname is famous for. Today Fort Zeelandia is a popular tourist attraction, perfect for a stroll through yesteryear.
